Thinking of hiring someone for my work injury – how do I even pick the right one
I’ve been going back and forth for weeks about whether to get representation for a hand injury I got on a construction site up near Catskill. My employer’s been paying for the doctor visits so far but they’re trying to rush me back to work way before I’m ready, and I just have this gut feeling that I’m going to get lowballed if I try to settle anything on my own. A couple of friends told me to just find any lawyer and go with them, but I’ve heard horror stories about people ending up with attorneys who never return calls or mess up the paperwork. I started looking online and came across a few local options, and I’m trying to figure out what questions to ask during a consultation. Specifically I want to know if a Catskill NY Workers Compensation Attorney would actually handle the whole process or just push me to take the first offer. Has anyone here gone through the process of hiring someone for a work injury in this area? What did you wish you knew beforehand? I’m not trying to make this a huge legal battle, but I also don’t want to be stuck with a hand that doesn’t work right because I went back too soon. Any tips on red flags or green flags when talking to potential lawyers would be amazing.
