I was looking at bifold patio doors in order to have the whole 9′ door space open to create an open air environment between my living room/bedroom and the outdoors.

I checked some local retailers and the going rate for bifold doors is around $1,000-$1,400 per linear foot which works out to be around $12,000 per door (I need 5 of them).

I checked Alibaba and found A LOT of Chinese companies that sell these doors. I contacted one in particular named YY Construction and they quoted me around $200 per square meter – if my math is correct that works out to be around $1200 for one door, or 1/10th of the price.

The question is, is it 1/10th of the quality? How bad can they be?

I’d say that Chinese doors are famous for being lightweight, thin, and unreliable, with a poor quality finish. I suggest looking at the site.
I have already ordered three doors from these guys, and they fulfilled my order quickly each time. The doors are heavy and solid and look fantastic.
