Upon going to the Roku main menu and selecting Prime Video your screen freezes. Your monitor just sits there with that annoying little Prime Video logo smiling back at you. The fix is to power off your monitor. When you hit the power button tou’ll see a brief glimpse of the main section of Prime Video, just as your monitor powers off. Then, after turning your monitor back on, you can once again go to the Roku home page and access Prime Video as you SHOULD always be able to. I contacted Amazon technical support, explained this bug and that for every one customer like me who calls in there could be 1,000 being inconvenienced but not calling in to report the bug. Additionally, this bug could get worse over time if Amazon technical support doesn’t isolate and resolve it….resulting in potentially millions of Prime Video customers experiencing this inconvenience regularly. It could get bad enough that the NY Times may report the WAPO/Amazon bug which would probably be welcomed my the likes of Disney Plus and Netflix. The tech advised me he couldn’t promise anything other than he’d let a manager know about my call and the gist of it. I advised the tech I COULD promise that I’d follow up on it via the communications I do or do not receive from Amazon re: this matter over the coming days. Note, I took about 30 minutes of my time on Thanksgiving day to be a good citizen and call Amazon to educate them about this bug. I suggested that since the agent on the phone with me was being paid thatI receive a modest credit for taking time out of my schedule to call Amazon and help them out, being on the phone just like the agent I was talking with, except tgat I was actively making a contribution to improving Amazon’s product and eliminating the Prime Video Bug.
