Ghibli ZF8 suddenly slamming into gears and I’m praying it’s not a mechatronic replacement

Three months of blissful ownership with my 2015 Ghibli SQ4 and of course just as the weather is getting properly brutal the gearbox decides to start acting like a learner driver on their first lesson, slamming into second and third with a thud that makes me wince every single time and occasionally hesitating so long on downshifts that I’ve had a couple of close calls pulling onto the Sharjah ring road with fast moving traffic bearing down on me and me just coasting like a lemon waiting for the revs to match. The local garage near Al Nahda where I usually go for oil changes took one look at the transmission pan and said he’s not touching it with a ten foot pole because it needs the proper diagnostic software to even begin figuring out if it’s a solenoid issue or the valve body or something worse, and he told me to either bite the bullet and go to the dealer or find someone who actually knows these ZF units inside out.
