Just moved here from Toronto a few months back and finally got my license sorted so I’m in the market for something like a 2018 X3 M40i that I spotted on an expat leaving sale in The Greens, the price is actually really attractive compared to what I was seeing back home but my knowledge of how cars age in this climate is basically zero. Like I understand winter rust from road salt but I have no clue what years of sitting in 45 degree heat does to gaskets and coolant hoses and all those plastic bits under the hood that BMW loves to use. The owner seems nice enough and keeps saying it’s been garaged and dealer serviced but when I asked about the transfer case fluid change he looked at me like I was speaking another language which I’m pretty sure is a red flag on xDrive models. I’m not trying to be that guy who shows up with a clipboard and acts like he’s buying a Pagani but I also don’t want to be the guy posting in the “Help needed” section three weeks later with a drivetrain malfunction warning. I ended up searching around and found these Pre Purchase BMW Inspection Dubai Experts who apparently do a pretty comprehensive scan of all the modules and will even check the health of the battery which I’ve heard can throw all sorts of weird electrical warnings on these G series cars if it’s getting weak. Is that level of detail really necessary or am I just being a nervous first time buyer in a new country, because honestly I just want to drive up to Jebel Jais on the weekend without staring at the dashboard the whole time.
